Proclaiming Jesus Christ in Word and Deed

Prayer Warriors

The Witness Ministry Team is fortunate to have several faithful Prayer Warriors who pray all week for the prayers that are submitted on Sunday mornings by members or visitors of CrossRoads Church.

Hedge Prayer

The Hedge Prayer Ministry consists of members of the United Methodist Women, Sunday school classes and individuals who pray on Sunday morning during Sunday school or worship for 30 minutes. They go to the Prayer Room, a designated quiet unoccupied room, and pray for the pastor, congregation and Sunday school teachers. There is a prayer basket and a list of current prayer concerns also in the room. Anyone is welcome to go to the prayer room at any time.

For more information on how you can participate in this ministry, contact the church office and we will be happy to put you in touch with a member of the Witness Ministry Team.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Some time ago, a group of ladies began meeting to knit or crochet Prayer Shawls to be given out to people in the community who are going through a crisis in their life (death or illness). While knitting the shawl they would pray for the person to whom the shawl would be given even if they do not know who that person will be. When a person was identified who was going through a crisis, they would pray for that person by name and one of the pastors would bless the shawl as well. The purpose of this ministry is to show God's Love and to bring comfort to the recipient.

CrossRoads Church first became involved in this ministry in the latter part of 2010 through one of it's church members who made her first prayer shawl for a terminally ill friend.  This friend carried that shawl with her all the time including to her cancer treatments and said "she could feel the love and comfort of God when she wrapped herself in it."

Anyone is welcome to join this ministry.  You do not have to be a member of CrossRoads UMC.  You are encouraged to knit or crochet at home until a group is established to meet in the church.   If you do not know how to knit or crochet but would like to be a part of this ministry - consider finding a "buddy" who can knit or crochet and buying the yarn for them to knit a shawl.
